Let’s get rid of a few hypnosis misconceptions. Let’s get to the truth.
Before I begin, I want to say I truly believe hypnosis can change your life.
Hypnosis works on the subconscious mind. The place where all of your thoughts, beliefs, and habits are stored. Once you quiet the mind, and do intentional work, changes can occur naturally.
So, let’s get into the truth about hypnosis so you’ll soon understand how it’s more powerful than you might think.

Hypnosis can’t be real?
Yes, a sugar pill is real too and they use that to determine if a medication works. It’s called the placebo effect and it works on expectation and in some cases conditioning. Think about it, if the power of suggestion was not worth anything then these sugar pills would not work. But they do and in some cases better than the medication themselves.
When a person goes to a hypnotist, they desire change. And they have to have a bit of belief that the outcome will be favorable. As belief creates change; change then increases belief. When you know something will work, it usually does.
Basically, hypnosis is a state for change. Besides, our minds are so powerful and we still don’t know the true capability of the changes they can create.
When we are no longer able to change a situation – we are challenged to change ourselves.

2. I can’t be hypnotized.
OK, if you say so, but you’re hypnotized ALL. THE. TIME.
If you have any habits at all you have been hypnotized.
If you can watch a really good movie and focus on it while forgetting everything else around you, you have been hypnotized. If you can daydream, that is a form of hypnosis. Driving down the road while thinking about other things is called “highway hypnosis.”
Now, all that being said, if you truly don’t want to be hypnotized, then you won’t be.
Sometimes people just don’t want to be hypnotized for a variety of reasons. Fear, loss of control, no desire for change, defiance, conditioning, etc. If you have that strong of willpower that you’re going to go against it every step of the way, then that is a choice. You’ll need to consider what underlying issues you have behind all that, because, again, you’re hypnotized every day, all the time.
Just remember, this is not about losing control-it’s about gaining control over the issues that you want to fix.
3. I don’t think I can sit still long enough for a Hypnosis session.
You’ll be surprised how time flies during a session. And in some cases, your busy mind can slow down so you can enjoy the relaxed state of hypnosis. Besides, you’re not “hypnotized” in a traditional sense for the entire session.
There is the pre-talk and then the session. Even during the pre-talk, you can begin to make changes that are beneficial to you.
What is good to know is hypnosis can work within a light state or a deep state. Hypnosis can also work in a conversational form too.
Most often you have done some of the change work before you even get hypnotized. Talking about it, or doing a few exercises before the session can kick-start positive changes.
Just remember, hypnosis is powerful and adjustable, and by working with your needs and style, you can have great results.
