Parts therapy is a wonderful tool to understand how we feel as though a “part” is in conflict with the whole of who we are.

WE ALL HAVE THAT PART OF US WE WISH WE COULD CHANGE. WHAT IF WE CAN?

When I say “part of you,” you usually understand what I am saying.

We all use it in conversation.

“A part of me wants to go out tonight, but another part says I should get some sleep.”

“A part of me really needs to have more fun, but I also know I have so much work to do.”

WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THERE IS A FORM OF HYPNOSIS THAT WORKS WITH THESE “PARTS” TO RESOLVE ISSUES AND HELPS YOU TO CREATE LASTING CHANGES?

It’s called Parts Work and it is amazing to see the results it has given so many people.

To understand parts, you have to understand how our mind works.

We are the sum of many parts of ourselves and parts can either be conscious or conscious.

In other words, we may not know they exist and how they may be affecting our lives.

I want to make it perfectly clear…

This is not a multiple personality disorder or Dissociative identity disorder

That is a different thing altogether.

You are whole.

And it’s normal to have these different parts of us as we have to navigate different scenarios in our life all the time.

The college student, the inner child, the parent, the friend, the lazy part that wants to eat ice cream on the couch, the responsible one who doesn’t.

Let me give you more examples.

“I’m thinking about going back to college, but a part of me thinks it’s too expensive.”

“Part of me wants to date that guy…but another part thinks it’s a bad idea.”

“I need to get my work done, but a part of me doesn’t want to deal with it right now.”

We may be saying these things off the cuff, but actually, there is the assumption that another part of us is making a decision. For our own good, mostly.

And this part of you is most likely the intuitive side. The one that “knows” what you need or thinks it knows what you need.

Some refer to it as the “inner voice” that usually gives us wise advice.

In most cases, it is trying to protect you even if you may not need protection.

AND MOST OFTEN THIS PART OF YOU WILL ONLY EMERGE WHEN YOU ARE MAKING CHANGES.

Parts work great when you need to make a decision or resolved an inner conflict. Knowing you need to get off the couch to get exercise, but a part of you is against it. A ‘why bother.’ feeling.

Part of you might be thinking this hypnosis just might be the way to get me unstuck, but another part is skeptical.

Right now, as I type this blog post, part of me would love to close this computer down, go make some popcorn and watch a movie, but another part of me, the responsible part says otherwise.

And that part wins. Lucky, otherwise, I wouldn’t have a business!

But, what if it didn’t win and I made the popcorn?

If this happened once, ok, but if it became a habit, then I would be sabotaging my career.

That is where part work comes in.

HOW AND WHEN ARE PARTS USED?

Each part of us has its own needs, desires, and beliefs. (conscious or subconscious.) And these different parts work together for the most part. Pun intended.

But in some situations, a part of you can get in the way of what you are trying to accomplish.

Why?

This could be the subconscious “part” that holds your emotions, fears, anxieties, deep wounds, and or *traumas.

These “parts” can cause inner conflicts.

These inner conflicts, negative habits, or stuck patterns of behavior need to be resolved.

The bottom line is that most parts are there to protect you. It’s your intuitive side that tells you not to go into the creepy basement at night and that is good.

We all need that part of us to give us a ‘nudge’ once in a while.

However, if you have a part of you that prevents you from positive changes or sabotages your life or business with popcorn and a movie, then that is not good.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS WITH PARTS WORK?

Parts work is done under hypnosis. As a hypnotist, I talk to the part asking open-ended questions that can shed light on ‘why” the part is acting the way it does. This gives a voice to the part of you that is not heard or understood.

In some cases, other “parts” can come forth to shed more light on what is going on either consciously or subconsciously.

We can also begin to understand what “triggers” a part to stop you, sabotage you, or feel the need to protect you.

In the end, all the parts are guided back together in a harmonious way so choices can be made, problems can be solved and changes can occur.

PARTS WORK RESULTS

Clients who have gone through parts work often feel like a “weight” is lifted. Like a resolution has taken place. As if they now have “permission” or an internal “agreement” to move forward, making changes on a conscious level instead of subconscious interference.

YOU ARE ALWAYS IN CONTROL

It is your part(s). The only job the hypnotist has is to mediate.

You are creating an internal solution that is agreed upon that works best for you.

Parts work “works” because it gets at the root of your problem, by understanding that part of you that is holding you back.

*Being a hypnotist, it would be out of my scope of practice to deal with any subconscious trauma or deep unresolved wounds. If that was the case, I would refer you to a qualified therapist.
