Mindfulness can bring you peace, joy, and a sense of appreciation. Learn how to sprinkle it throughout your day.

I talk about a sprinkle of mindfulness in the introduction of this podcast for every episode. Yes, it is one of the consistent things I do. LOL

A sprinkle, a tiny bit. Sprinkles are usually added to something, making it better.

Mindfulness makes things better too.

Sprinkles on cupcakes, on ice cream, or sprinkles of other things like confetti or a sprinkle of rain.

When I think of sprinkles, I often think of this time of year. It’s December and sprinkles are on all the cookies, on the mantle as people sprinkle glitter and snow all over their Christmas village.

More than anything, sprinkles come with celebration and love. A sprinkle of Mindfulness during a whimsical and magical time of year.

And remember…sprinkles are delicate yet they pack a punch.

I like to think of sprinkles as standing outside and catching a snowflake on your tongue. When you add a sprinkle of mindfulness to that, it becomes a moment of joy.

It’s setting into the moment and enjoying your family and your friends and the holiday season.

Many moons ago back in 2011, before I had my podcasts, yes, podcasts, I started one minute of mindfulness.

I started this before I even became a Hypnotist because I wanted to get settled into my mind and become present. But it just felt so hard at the time it felt it felt so foreign to me. Because I am, you know, an overthinker.

I started to just take these small little moments, and they could be anything, and I would sprinkle them throughout the day.

Getting up in the morning, when my feet first hit the floor, I would focus on the sensation of just sitting there for a minute.

Hearing somebody talk, I would listen, just intentionally, to the tone of their voice and to the subtle nuances that I wouldn’t pick up on if I was trying to think of what to say next, which we all do.

To this day, one of the biggest ways for me to become mindful and present is my cup of coffee. When I drink my coffee, I can bring in all of the sensations:  the smell the sight, the taste. The feel of the warm cup and the feeling of peace that comes over me. Coffee has always been my go-to when I need to become Mindful.

How to add mindfulness to your day

Take one or two minutes here and there. if that’s to long, then try 30 seconds and just sprinkle that mindfulness.

These small doses of mindfulness add up and do start to change your brain. Because you’re doing this intentionally, after a while it becomes natural to just drop into that state of presence.

So, where in your life can you add mindfulness? Where in your life do you already feel a lot of appreciation? Whatever that is, start there. Add Mindfulness to the things you appreciate to start with. Why?

Appreciation is the gateway to mindfulness.

I will leave you with this quote…

“It’s a funny thing about life, once you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack.”

― Germany Kent

It’s just like that. Sprinkles of Mindfulness as you enjoy your day, one minute at a time. Take a big deep breath in and exhale

Remember, you have a powerful mind and it can be changed to support the life you want to live. In the meantime, enjoy your day, one minute at a time.

Hugs, Cheryl
