Silence is powerful and it can you into a state of mindfulness
LET’S TAKE A PAUSE FOR SILENCE
Silence… the lack of noise, the lack of chaos, and loudness.
Now when I talk about silence, I’m definitely not talking about external noise.
However, that does affect us in many ways when there’s so much noise going on. Cars going by, kids are loud, and the TV is blaring. Life has got busy and less connected.
It seems the word has gotten louder and louder and we can’t control our external situations for the most part.
So we need to learn to be silent within.
When we become mindful and present, we can find a bit of silence and stillness.
This is when we notice that there are spaces between our thoughts.
When there is a sense of calmness and stillness, it almost feels beyond spaciousness. It feels open and intense, yet peaceful.
It also helps to make our minds feel more at ease.
Plus it gives us a reprieve from our busy day.
SO HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT FINDING THIS SILENCE?
Now some people have a hard time quieting their minds down or it makes them feel better having all that noise.
Some of it is learned behavior and sometimes it’s a sensory issue.
But we can find our own version of silence within a busy world that can bring us some peace.
Personally, I need to have the external world quiet so I can just sit and listen.
You can do this too.
CONNECT WITH YOUR INNER STILLNESS.
Sometimes it’s easy to drop into body awareness so you focus on your body and not on the external world around you.
You can focus on your breath… inhale and exhale.
Focus on your hands… Where are they? What are they doing? What are they touching?
Doing this allows your mind to become present and slow down.
Remember your thinking will still be there, you just won’t be as bothered by it.
Instead, you’re allowing thoughts to come and go, and the more you do this, the more space you’ll find between these thoughts and the more silence you will perceive.
So do tell me.
How do you quiet your busy mind?
Take a deep breath in and exhale
So, before I go, listen closely and remember this ONE thing.
Your future is a thought, your past has passed, but your now is always here.
Be mindful-one minute at a time.
Hugs, Cheryl
