If you are reading this then this is a great time to get mindful right now

I’m on my computer right now recording this podcast and if you are listening you are using an electronic device. We use computers and electronic devices so often we might as well get mindful of them.

Computers, phones, and tablets are all an extension of our life.

And we probably don’t give them much thought or appreciation unless they stop running. I am guilty of that at times.  

Our devices have become so much more than just a piece of equipment. Before you hop on that computer today, give appreciation for what it does for you. 

It’s a place where you can connect to people. Maybe once you sign on you become a musician, a poet, a writer, a gamer, a YouTube watcher, or a Facebook scroller.

Either way, more than often you will be inspired by what you see.

You may even reflect, appreciate, laugh, and or even cry because a computer brings that experience to us. 

So, let’s be mindful so we can appreciate the computer itself.

Be Mindful with your Computer Now

Take a deep breath in and exhale so you can settle your mind.

Do it again if necessary. 

Start by noticing it, the shape, the size, the sleekness, the wonder of it as if you’ve never seen it before.

Notice the size of the screen.

Notice the colors and shapes on the screen. 

Notice the keyboard and even the cord that attaches to the wall. If you have one, of course. 

Pay attention to the whirling sound and the humming of the motor or fan. Just notice.

Close your eyes to really hear it if you need to.  

Now, as you put your hands on the keyboard, notice the feel of the keys underneath your fingers. You may even notice on one of the keys, a bump or a dot that helps to keep your place while you type. 

Connect to the feel of the keys and the way your hands rest upon the keyboard. 

When you get ready to type, pay attention to the feel of your hands as they move across the keys creating, making, and moving things around.

Listen attentively to the clicking sound of the keys and let’s not forget the feel of the mouse under your hand as you move it around. The feel of clicking something becomes almost magical. 

As you continue to click and type away realize that something important is happening.

Important-yes, because it is your connection to the outside world.

 

You might be stepping into a place of creativity, and knowledge, or maybe gaining new insight.

Either way, your life will change by what you do, learn, or find on the internet today. 

Take a deep breath in and now notice what comes up internally as you think of what you’re doing. 

Do you feel excited?. Exhilaration? Dread? Inquisitiveness? 

Feel that emotion settle into your body.

Notice it and of course, if anything negative comes up you can reflect on that later. 

But for now, just be here…connect with one of the greatest extensions of our mind, the computer.

Take a deep breath in and exhale.
